Married Life
The story of Elizabeth Báthory's early life reads similar to many other noble women of her time. Born into a significant Hungarian family, Elizabeth was married at fifteen to Count Ferencz Nádasdy. This marriage was arranged by her parents when she was just two years old as a strategic move to join together two of the most important families of the region. In many ways the marriage was a success; Ferencz Nádasdy was hugely wealthy, and the union did help join together the Nádasdy and Báthory
families. Ferencz was often away at war and left Elizabeth in charge of his affairs whilst he was gone
